Dramatic role, dramatic transformation: Brie Larson cut her hair short for “Elektra” and is barely recognizable.
Oscar winner Brie Larson (35) will soon make her theater debut in London’s West End. She plays the main role in Sophocles’ play “Elektra” and has now undergone a type change that is almost as dramatic as the role itself: her shoulder-length blonde hair has given way to a dark pixie cut à la Audrey Hepburn (1929-1993).
Larson shared two black-and-white photos on Monday (November 25) and wrote: “Elektra is here.” In the snapshots, the actress wears a black off-shoulder top and looks happily into the camera. The new, eye-catching haircut ends just above Larson’s ears and, according to the links, is by hairstylist Cervando Maldonado, and the dark color is by hair colorist Jacob Schwartz.
Fans are excited about Brie Larson’s new look
Brie Larson’s fans and friends are thrilled by the transformation: “Oh my God, I love it,” writes actress Naomi Watts (56). “Everything suits you,” commented one user. “This looks SO good on you and I can’t wait to see you bring Elektra to life next year,” wrote another.
The actress can be seen in Anne Carson’s new adaptation of the Sophocles classic “Elektra” at the Duke of York’s Theater London on the West End from January 24th to April 12th, 2025. The Greek tragedy is about a woman who wants to avenge her father’s death.
Larson was most recently seen on screen in the series “A Question of Chemistry” on Apple TV+, based on the novel of the same name. For her portrayal of chemist Elizabeth Zott, the actress was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Best Actress and a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Miniseries.
