Annual review of Amazon’s Alexa
Clear victory for the football stars
Actors and singers were far less popular among Alexa 2024 users than professional footballers.
Voice assistants such as Amazon’s Alexa, Apple’s Siri or the Google Assistant can not only help with everyday tasks, but also answer questions about prominent personalities. The shipping giant has evaluated which celebrities Alexa users were most frequently asked about in 2024. The evaluation produces a surprising result: personalities from film or music were nowhere near as popular among users as athletes. The entire top ten consists of current or former professional footballers – perhaps also because of the home European Championship in 2024.
From Cristiano Ronaldo to the “Emperor”
For years, Cristiano Ronaldo (39) has been one of the hottest stars in the football world, and not just in the stadium. the Portuguese currently has more than 644 million followers. No wonder it is also ahead in the Alexa rankings. One who is often compared to him is Lionel Messi (37). The Argentine makes it to two in comparison. The French superstar Kylian Mbappé (25) is now in third place.
Then some German footballers follow: goalkeeper Manuel Neuer (38) secures the four, Thomas Müller (35) plays in the five and Jamal Musiala (21) in sixth place. Seventh place goes to the Brazilian Neymar (32) and eighth place to the Norwegian Erling Haaland (24). Toni Kroos (34), who officially ended his career this year, lands in ninth place. A legend of the sport, Franz Beckenbauer (1945-2024), who died in January, finally rounds off the top ten.
These women were asked about most often
In contrast to the general top ten, which consists solely of football professionals, the top five of women who were searched for most often is significantly more varied. First place goes to singer and megastar Taylor Swift (34), who only leaves silver and bronze for two German colleagues. Second place goes to none other than pop queen Helene Fischer (40), third place goes to Lena Meyer-Landrut (33). Long-time Chancellor Angela Merkel (70) takes the four and model mom Heidi Klum (51) comes in fifth.
For comparison: Alexa answered the most questions about musicians about the “King of Pop” Michael Jackson (1958-2009) before Swift and Fischer. “Pop Titan” Dieter Bohlen (70) and “Rap God” Eminem (52) fill the top five. When it comes to politicians, Donald Trump (78) was asked most frequently – ahead of Vladimir Putin (72), Olaf Scholz (66), Joe Biden (82) and Merkel.
