Carlos Bueno He had a football career full of ups and downs. He went through important clubs, stood out in Argentine football and established himself as one of the great scorers of his generation. Today, away from activity as a professional player, he is still linked to football, but in a different role: that of coach in the rise of his native country, Uruguay.

What was Carlos Bueno’s career like?
Carlos Éber Bueno Suárez was born in ArtigasUruguay, on May 10, 1980. From a young age he showed his talent in the divisions inferiors of Peñaroland it was there where he made the leap to professional football in 1999. During his first time with the Aurinegro club, he managed to stand out especially in the classics against Nacional, where he demonstrated his scoring instinct. Throughout his career with the aurinegro, he achieved two First Division titles in 1999 and 2003.
In 2005, the forward began his trip to Europe, joining the Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) of Franceand then to Sporting Lisbon in Portugal. Although his time at these European clubs was not as fruitful as expected, the experience helped him acquire a new vision of international football. His return to South American football led him to Boca Juniors in 2007although his time with the Xeneize team was not so outstanding, scoring only one goal in the Apertura Tournament against Arsenal de Sarandí.

Despite his brief stay at PSG, Bueno showed his skills in European football before returning to South American football.
After his short stay in the Argentine team, Bueno returned to Peñarol in 2008where he lived an important chapter in his career when he reached the final of the Uruguayan Championship 2007-08although they lost against Defensor Sporting. In 2009, he moved to Spain to play for the Royal Societya team with which he was promoted to the First Division, becoming one of the team’s top scorers during his stay in the Second Division, with 12 goals in 34 games.
His career continued in different clubs in Latin America. In 2010, he signed for University of Chilewhere he stood out as a scorer, scoring his first goal in a match against Everton de Viña del Mar. In Mexico, he played for Querétaroa team with which he achieved great notoriety, scoring 21 goals in two tournaments and being one of the league’s top scorers.
In 2012, it was part of San Lorenzo de Almagro. There he played a fundamental role in avoid relegation of the clubscoring crucial goals in the promotion against Instituto. He also passed through Belgrano de Córdoba and San Martín de San Juan before his last experience in South American football, with Santa Tecla of El Salvador, where he was crowned champion of the local tournament in 2017.

In San Lorenzo, Bueno was key in the fight to avoid relegation, scoring decisive goals for the team.
He took his last step in professional football in 2019, when he announced his retirement after a successful career full of outstanding moments, but also personal and professional challenges.
What Carlos Bueno is currently doing
After announcing his retirement from professional football in 2019, The former striker turned to his new role: that of technical director. Currently, he holds the position of coach at Artigas SADa club in the First Amateur Division of Uruguay. His transition to the bench came after having been technical assistant to Mario Saralegui, a position he held for a short time before assuming the main role.
In this new challenge, the former player applies his experience on the playing field to train new talents in Uruguayan football. Although his time as a footballer was marked by moments of glory and others of difficulty, his focus is now focused on the development of football in his native country.
