De Sarno has been creative director at Gucci since 2023. The 41 -year -old Italian had previously worked at Prada, Dolce & Gabbana and before moving to Gucci at Valentino since 2009. In the announcement distributed by Kering, Gucci gave no reasons for the short -term separation before Fashion Week. De Sarno’s successor should therefore be announced “in due course”.
The Italian brand has been financially financially in difficult fare for some time. In the third quarter of 2024, Gucci mother group Kering had a sales minus from 16 percent to 3.79 billion euros. According to Kering, Gucci’s stumbling business in particular contributed to this. In the third quarter, Gucci revenues fell by 26 percent to 1.6 billion euros.
