The price season in Hollywood is in full swing. Now the screenwriters are also awarding their awards.
The tragicomedy “Anora” and the drama “Nickel Boys” have cleared the top prices at this year’s Hollywood screenwriters. “Anora” won the award for the best adapted script in the original script category, “Nickel Boys”. The Trophies of the Association of Writers Guild of America (WGA) were awarded at celebrations in New York and Los Angeles.
The WGA winners often coincide with the later Oscar winners. Last year, for example, the WGA winner for the original script (“American Fiction”) also won the corresponding Oscar. “Anora” had already raised awards at the award ceremonies of the Directors Guild and the Producers Guild.
Due to the strict participation conditions of the Writers Guild, numerous films were again excluded this year, such as scripts that were not written by members of the US union. The script for Edward Berger’s celebrated Vatican thriller “Conclave”, which had already been awarded a Golden Globe, was not available.
