The Costa Ricas judicial investigation agency provides initial information on which the son of ex-athlete Brett Brett Gardner could have died.
After the former baseball professional Brett Gardner (41) and his wife Jessica announced the sudden death of her 14-year-old son Miller, there are now apparently initial findings on the cause of death.
Official autopsy results only in a few weeks
The teenager “suffocated after a possible poisoning after he had apparently eaten something”, it was said by an official from the Costa Ricas legal investigator on March 24, to NBC News. A toxicological test and an official autopsy are still available. The results could be available in two to three months.
On March 23, the official account of the New York Yanke’s X published a statement by the Gardners, in which they announced that their son died unexpectedly during a family vacation. Brett Gardner played for the Yankees for 14 years until he ended his active career in 2021.
“We have to announce the death of our youngest son Miller with a heavy heart,” the couple began. “He was 14 years old and left us much too early after having suffered on vacation with several other family members.” The boy “died peacefully in sleep”. At that time they “had so many questions and so few answers”.
Life without a Miller Invoice
The couple then described Miller as a “beloved son and brother” and added: “We still can’t imagine our life without his contagious smile.”
Brett and Jessica Gardner, who have been married since 2007 and have son Hunter, also expressed his gratitude towards “everyone who offered us support and encouragement in this difficult time”. The couple made no more detailed information on where the family was on vacation or what Miller died.
