MS sufferers Selma Blair: “I feel better”

Selma Blair made her multiple sclerosis diagnosis known in 2018. Sometimes she used a walking stick during public appearances. Now the actress says to be “truly in remission”.

The US actress Selma Blair (52), suffering from multiple sclerosis (MS), is accordingly “truly in remission”. “I am astonishingly well,” said Blair in an interview with the magazine “People” on the edge of a price gala in Beverly Hills, California. She has been feeling good for about a year. She finally has strength and endurance to take part in events. For a long time she was just tired, but now she thinks about film projects again. Remission means a decline in symptoms.

Blair played in films such as “Ice Cold Engel” (1999), “Naturally Blond” (2001) and “Hellboy” (2004). She has been talking about her life with nerve disease for years. In 2018 she made the MS diagnosis public. For decades, her illness had remained undetected by doctors despite the loss of control over her own body, she said at the time.

Multiple sclerosis is a disease of the nervous system in which inflammation occurs in the spinal cord and brain. The course is very different and not predictable. The inflammation can heal, but the patient’s situation can also deteriorate for years.
