There was a lot of applause at the traditional New Year’s reception of the ASKÖ district organization for a total of 372 top rankings. “In the previous year, athletes had won 188 first places, 107 second places and 77 third places for ASKÖ and its clubs at domestic championships and international competitions such as world championships. I congratulate our athletes very warmly. The diversity shows how broadly positioned our ASKÖ family. The range of sports in our district is very comprehensive,” said Mayor Markus Vogl. In total, ASKÖ has 62 clubs and almost 8,500 members in the district. “This ranges from absolute top-level sport and competitive sports to endurance and leisure sports,” says ASKÖ District President Gerald Hackl.
At the start of the New Year’s reception, children and young people from the ASKÖ martial arts club in Steyr showed their skills. Later, athletes from the ASKÖ International Fighting Team Steyr offered an insight into their abilities. All those honored received a small gift in recognition of their achievements.
Around 180 athletes, trainers and officials attended the New Year’s reception on January 25th in the Zöchling guesthouse. Among the guests of honor were ASKÖ regional director Anita Rackaseder, honorary president Fritz Hochmair, the mayors Richard Kerbl, Hubert Kern and Karlworm-leitner, deputy mayor Anna-Maria Demmelmayr-Durst and city councilor Christian Baumgarten.
