Obertraun’s budget deficit offset with savings

Mayor Egon Hoell

The budget of the Dachstein municipality was decided for 2023 with a forecast deficit of 60,000 euros. However, the minus can be offset from saved reserves. The Obertraun community leadership is particularly hurt by the population, which has fallen from 747 to 730 main residences. As a result, the revenue shares of the federal government and the structural funds of the state are also falling. Irrespective of this, however, the compulsory expenditure on the country for the hospitals will increase by 20 percent and the contributions for nursing homes and retirement homes as well as social assistance by 14 percent.

Mayor Egon Höll (SP): “Despite all the challenges and to cushion the increase in price for the population, an increase of only three percent was decided for waste, water and sewer usage fees – against inflation of almost nine percent.” There is hope that the projects started in recent years, such as parking lot management or mobile home parking, will continue. It is also hoped that tourism and municipal tax revenue will stabilize again at pre-Corona levels. The new projects include the barrier-free municipal office, the new sun raft at the lido, further rockfall protection for the Koppenpass and in 2024 the renovation of the tennis court.
