The dollar fell another 0.8% and consolidates its return to the $38 range

The last operation of the day in the Electronic Stock Exchange of Uruguay (Bevsa), was agreed in 38.65 pesos, while the average price of operations was 38,553 pesos. On this Thursday, the number of transactions was a total of 48with a number of operations that totaled a little more than 25 million dollars.

The dollar accumulates a fall of -3.79% so far in 2023

The collapse of the last two days was such that in just two exchange days the exchange rate sank a -1.9% and all the accumulated increase that had been showing was squandered February. Thus, this variable is now left with a negative balance of -0.33%.

The US currency had been showing an upward trend in February that generates expectations with the possibility of neutralizing the sharp fall of -3.29% in January 2023 and leaving a positive balance for the year, but with this significant setback that seems have been far away

Meanwhile, compared to January 23, the North American currency showed a monthly variation of -1.56%. According to today’s quote, so far this yearthe foreign currency accumulated a setback of -3.79%.

Compared to the same day but last year -February 23, 2022-, when the exchange rate was 42,268 pesos, the year-on-year variation was -8.79%.

This last variable has been showing a downward trend in recent days, mainly because, by then, the dollar had already begun to fall after reaching historical peaks that it had registered in the first days of last year.
