The Viennese director Marvin Kren is shooting a new series for Netflix: the gangster series “Criminel” (working title) set between France, Germany and Austria. The eight-part series was co-developed by Kren and should be available from autumn/winter. At the center of the series that Kren is shooting with Cüneyt Kaya is Charly, who lives in Berlin and one day his dark past catches up with him. When his family’s life is threatened, he is forced into a robbery that goes terribly wrong. He also meets Joseph from Vienna, who works as a driver for a gangster clan. From now on, the unlikely duo is forced to work together in order to shake off the clans from Berlin, Vienna and Marseille. Georg Friedrich can also be seen in front of the camera.
Iris Berben as the nasty boss
Netflix has also announced other German-language series and films. In “Paradise” from July 27, Iris Berben plays an unscrupulous boss of a company that offers money for life in a futuristic setting. In “Blood & Gold” by director Peter Thorwarth, the protagonists hunt for a Jewish treasure of gold during the Second World War.
For next year, Netflix is planning the mini-series “Hello” with Florian David Fitz and Katharina Thalbach, who have to face inexplicable phenomena from space. Solid action again offers “60 Minutes” by Oliver Kienle, who pins a gang of criminals on the heels of the main actor Emilio Sakraya. In “Plötzlich Kanzlerin” (working title), Germany accidentally gets its first black female chancellor after a sex and drug scandal involving her predecessor. Faraz Shariat will direct the eight episodes.
