The city should not levy a municipal tax known as a “dog tax” on owners of dogs from the shelter. The exemption will be valid for three years. This should give an incentive for people to look around for dogs that are waiting for a place in the animal shelter.

“Unfortunately, we are experiencing that more and more dogs are losing their homes. Many of them are finding shelter at the animal shelters and animal protection associations in the region,” says SP councilor Annika Blutsch. With the deferral of the dog fee to three years, the usually heavily occupied homes should be relieved, emphasizes the mandatary. She has already discussed her proposal with other groups.
