However, a judgment will not be made on Monday evening as planned, but on May 5th at the earliest, because the hearing will be adjourned on Monday. The two young women are said to have attacked several men with knives in February 2022 and injured them. After the first witnesses on Friday, friends of the students spoke on Monday: They had spent the evening before the knife attacks with the two suspects. The focus of the surveys was the sanity of the women, who were only 18 at the time. They had consumed copious amounts of alcohol and drugs before the street attacks took place.

“I talked to her normally”

One of the witnesses said in court on Monday that he was supposed to pick up the two girls from a friend’s apartment. They probably took drugs, he said, “but I talked to her normally,” he said, describing the condition of one of the two young women. Another said that he still had videos on his cell phone from the evening in question, which can now be evaluated by the next hearing. In addition, one of the two wrote him a message that night: “Please, please come, we killed someone,” it said. “Why didn’t you call the police?” Judge Kornelia Philipp wanted to know. “I was drugged,” the young man justified himself.

In addition, an officer who had observed the two young women in their cells a few hours after the arrest was interviewed on Monday: “They were sleepy and slightly delayed, but not completely wrong.” They would very well have given logical answers to simple questions.

The two students have had to answer to the Graz criminal court for multiple attempted murders since last week. The young women are said to have attacked and injured three men with knives in February 2022 under the influence of alcohol and drugs. One of the victims suffered 13 stab and cut injuries to the chest, back and head. The defense did not see the attacks as attempted murder under any circumstances, but only bodily harm or useless attempts.
