The Opal Award of the Best Business Association (BBA) for sustainable entrepreneurial life’s work in the European region Danube-Moldau has now been presented to Johann Scheuringer, the founder of the Kopfinger company Josko windows and doors. The work of the 88-year-old was honored at a celebration in Neuburg am Inn.
Around 1000 people work at Josko today. Johann Scheuringer is a family man who has managed to keep the company in the family for generations. And Johann Scheuringer is still regularly in the company and sees whether he can help and whether he is needed. “You know, when I go into the company, I greet everyone and I am also greeted. But not only me. It was always important to me to set an example by greeting as a sign of respect for other people.”
According to Johann Scheuringer, the American system of “hire to fire” never existed with him. “They’re all human, even if things don’t go so well in the company, we have to get through it together.” When the former municipal councilor and local politician thinks about today’s politics, he sometimes has to shake his head. “They can reduce working hours, but we don’t have the manpower for that.” There is a lack of common sense in many areas, the money has been “eliminated”.
Josko was the main sponsor of the Bundesliga soccer club Ried for twelve years. “We fixed that in two talks back then. The sponsorship in football brought us a lot. Also in Bavaria. But at some point it came to an end and now we are the namesake of the stadium in Ried and I’m not unhappy with that either. Because with every TV transmission you can see the lettering ‘josko ARENA’.”
