In addition to the European Games in Poland in the second half of June and the World Championships in Duisburg in the second half of August, Szeged will be paddling for World Cup podium places in Poznan at the end of May and in Paris at the end of August.

The Linz sisters Ana Roxana and Adriana Lehaci as well as Timon Maurer in the kayak and Manfred Pallinger in the canoe are primarily there for Austria. The competitions in the Hungarian canoeing stronghold are extremely strong, since several nations have their internal eliminations for the European and World Championships there. “It will be harder for us than the World Cup”believes Ana Roxana Lehaci, and: “We are working step by step towards the Olympic qualification in August.”

The Lehacis’ K2 boat was formed last season after Viktoria Schwarz dropped out because of her pregnancy. Her son Ben Vito was born in Linz on December 29, and the 37-year-old is now training again. “I’ll have to see how I’m doing over the next few weeks. There’s still time before the World Cup in August”says Black.
