“After the registered earthquake, monitoring is carried out through regional and departmental delegates and the coordinators for disaster reduction“, said the National Coordinator for Disaster Reduction (Conred) of Guatemala.
“At the moment there are no damages but we will be updating the information”, added the public institution.
Reuters witnesses said the quake was long and strong. In Guatemala City, some frightened residents took to the streets.
