This is reported by the Reichenau/Rax mountain rescue service in a broadcast. When descending from the Fischerhütte, the Viennese lost his orientation in the onset of darkness and informed the emergency services. A helicopter from the Ministry of the Interior was able to locate the missing person, but could not save him because of the dense forest. The 44-year-old was finally found by a team from the Reichenau mountain rescue service and accompanied unharmed to the valley in an hour and a half.
The mountain rescue service recommends hikers not only to rely on digital apps, but also to take an analogue hiking map with them and to observe the markings on the hiking trails.
