The fire is believed to have broken out in the area of a tire and set the semi-trailer loaded with wooden panels on fire. Several passing truck drivers rushed to help and were able to contain the fire with fire extinguishers. This presumably prevented a full fire. The Allhaming and Pucking-Hasenufer fire brigades were then able to extinguish the fire.
It will take a long time to remove the damaged semi-trailer, as it first has to be unloaded using a forklift and then towed away. In the area of the site, the emergency lane and the first lane were closed on Tuesday morning.
