The 29-year-old from the Urfahr area initially fled before he was found lying in a barley field. He does not have a driver’s license and the car was not registered.
According to the police, the man initially stopped on the instructions of uniformed officers, but then stepped on the gas. After ramming a pile of wood with his car on a dirt road, the Upper Austrian fled on foot into a field, where he was caught. His identity was finally clarified at the St. Valentin police station. Small amounts of amphetamine were found in the 29-year-old’s backpack. The man is now expecting reports to the St. Pölten public prosecutor’s office and the Amstetten district authority.
