The oversized vehicle had to stop there immediately yesterday: A hydraulic line had burst – presumably due to material fatigue – so the vehicle frame could no longer be lifted. Normally, the frame can be easily raised and lowered hydraulically in order to be able to adapt to different road conditions.
Although the extra-wide truck is parked at the edge, it still protrudes slightly into the roadway. Drivers have to dodge. According to Asfinag, during the rush hours yesterday evening and today in the morning traffic backed up to Salzburger Straße and Franzosenhausweg.
Unfortunately, the problem could no longer be solved on Thursday. A specialist is needed for such a heavy vehicle, says Mario Fröhlich, deputy motorway foreman at Asfinag. Ray of hope: These specialists were already working on solving the problem on Friday morning. The truck is expected to be drivable again by noon and will have left its unfavorable parking space.
