Tomorrow begins the first Cyber ​​Monday of the year

On June 5, 6 and 7, a new edition of the renowned digital consumption event promoted by the Chamber of the Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU) will take place.

Uruguay will have a new one at the beginning of next week cyber monday, the key date for electronic commerce or ecommerce promoted by the Chamber of the Digital Economy of Uruguay (CEDU) to promote this activity and that thousands of consumers can take advantage of discounts and exclusive promotions. What news does it bring?

A new Cyber ​​Monday, the first of 2023, will take place on June 5, 6 and 7 through its official page; and will be the stage for more than 110 brands.

With the intention of promote the development of the digital ecosystem through the online offer, Cyber ​​Monday was born in 2014, promoted by the CEDU. Now, the organization will return with one of the commercial dates most anticipated by Uruguayans and will seek to maintain the high levels of the last edition.

On this occasion, consumers will once again be able to access benefits in the prices of products in the categories of “Clothing and footwear”, “Jewelry and accessories”, “Technology”, “Toys”, “Home appliances”, “Beauty and perfumery ”, “Travel and tourism”, “Automobiles”, “Home and bricolage”, “Entertainment”, “Food and beverages”, among others.

In the last edition, which took place in November 2022, 33% of Uruguayans made at least one purchase during Cyber ​​Monday, which grows in acceptance among the population every year. In this sense, there is already 88% of those over 18 who know about this ecommerce proposal, and 49% who consider that it is the date with the best discounts. Likewise, it is established as the preferred time to make purchases for 26% of Uruguayans.

Ecommerce, increasingly widespread in Uruguay

Digital consumption is a practice that is growing all over the world and also in Uruguay. Thus, 54% of the people who live in the country make regular purchases of products and services online, and 66% have done so at least once, according to the latest report from Digital Consumption Trends of the CEDU and carried out by the consultant Figure.

A noteworthy piece of information from the survey is the growth in the adoption of e-commerce in the Uruguayan population: when asked if they had ever used the Internet to purchase products and services, the number of positive responses reached 66%. This percentage, in 2020, had been 53%.

Among the reasons mentioned for choosing this online purchase modality, 25% of those consulted responded that it is faster and more comfortable, 14% referred to the best prices compared to face-to-face purchases, 9% highlighted the variety of items and 4% assured that it is faster, while the remaining 3% said that they prefer to avoid moving to the physical location . Likewise, the preferred means of payment for these transactions are credit and debit cards.
