The severe storms that swept across the entire federal state on Saturday evening also left a trail of devastation in the Schärding city area. The Schärding volunteer fire brigade was first alerted at 7:01 p.m., followed by calls every minute. In the city area alone, 51 operations had to be completed in the hours that followed. The FF Schärding was supported by the Laufenbach, Höbmannsbach, Hackenbuch and Raab fire brigades.
Tree fell on moving car
Particularly dramatic: according to information from FF Schärding, a moving car was hit by a tree. The 24-year-old, who was driving the vehicle, had to be freed from the vehicle by the fire brigade in the municipality of Sankt Florian am Inn. The injured person was taken to the hospital after receiving first aid.
The remaining missions had to be completed because of fallen trees, flooded basements and defective roofs. A large unit had to be requested from Raab to ensure the power supply for the Schärdinger water supply. Some damage could not be processed during the night for safety reasons. These are being processed today during the day, and a large special crane from Ried im Innkreis was also requested because a tree is still on a house. 42 men from the Schärding fire brigade were deployed, a total of 76 fire brigade members were deployed. The police inspection, the road maintenance department and the municipal water supply were also on duty.
