A missing 86-year-old mountaineer was found after four days in the Alpspitz area near Garmisch-Partenkirchen in the German state of Bavaria. The senior wanted to climb the Alpspitze on Wednesday, as the police reported on Sunday. After a final phone call with his wife, in which he said he would sleep on the mountain, contact broke off.
Over the next four days, the man reportedly lost his cell phone and wandered around in the forest. When he discovered a forest road on Sunday, he lay down, it was said. A cyclist spotted him there. Even before he was rescued by the mountain rescue service, the 86-year-old called his wife, it was said. He was taken to a hospital for an examination.
