While German automobile manufacturers in particular withdrew from the IAA Mobility in Munich, Chinese suppliers’ stands sometimes clearly towered over those of VW and Co. Although the models from Forthing, Leapmotor and Co. are not yet available in this country, a tidal wave of Chinese cars across Europe is on the horizon.

And those who are already in Austria are gaining a lot of ground. MG, BYD, Polestar and others increased 40 percent to 4,771 units between January and August 2023 compared to the same period last year. Trend: rising sharply. Chinese models currently have a market share of 2.9 percent in Austria.

The Seres brand presented two new SUVs in Munich: the city SUV Seres 3 and the range extender model Seres 7. The small sport utility vehicle has an output of 120 kW (163 hp) and can cover 331 kilometers WLTP with its 54 kWh battery -Range. The Seres 7 comes as a range extender version with a 1.5-liter four-cylinder with 85 kW (115 hp), the electricity for the electric motor (127 kW/173 hp) or for two electric motors (323 kW/439 hp, all-wheel drive). The 40 kWh battery supplies electricity for 175 or 162 kilometers.

Also new in Munich: hung U-Tour, Leapmotor CO and the BYD Seal.
