Yesterday, the Military Music of Upper Austria set the pace at the opening of the Wels Rescuers’ Fair. Their welcoming march on the first day of the exhibition was addressed, among others, to Interior Minister Gerhard Karner (VP), who in a speech expressed his thanks to the “thousands and thousands of volunteers in the country”. After a five-year break, this is the tenth edition of the rescue fair. In 2018, Herbert Kickl, one of Karner’s predecessors, opened Austria’s largest exhibition of emergency organizations.
While Federal Fire Brigade President Robert Mayer highlighted the collective help of fire departments in the areas in Carinthia and Styria that were recently hit by severe storms, Civil Protection President Michael Hammer reported on the population’s growing interest in disaster control – keyword blackout.
The countless people in the emergency services, fire departments and other emergency services are also the target group of this trade fair. Many technical innovations and some spectacular practice sessions await you at the Wels exhibition center until Saturday. 220 exhibitors are represented, including 40 companies that are presenting for the first time. A wide range of products and innovations for modern practical use will be on display. In addition to robots, drones and modern protective suits, the leading trade fair also includes heavy equipment such as a 36-ton decontamination vehicle provided by the armed forces to ward off hazardous substances. The police, the Samaritan Association, the civil defense and many other organizations also show their best side.
