The Buenos Aires Challenger, a competition that is fully organized by the Torneos company and will be held from October 8 to 15 at the Racket Club, has already confirmed its list for the main draw of the tournament. Federico Coria (82nd in the ATP ranking), finalist of the last Córdoba Open and brand new champion of the Szczecin competition, is the top favorite.
Also notable is the presence Juan Manuel Cerúndolo (89th), champion of the 2022 edition by defeating Camilo Ugo Carabelli (196°) in the definition. The left-handed player, seeded second, will seek to obtain his third trophy of the year at this level, after consecutive victories in the two tournaments that were played in Tigre during January. Facundo Díaz Acosta (99th), third seed, will try to obtain his first conquest in the country. One of the brand new bursts into the top 100 of the ranking, the Buenos Aires native has already won three Challenger titles on clay in 2023 (Milan, Oeiras 4 and Savannah).
The Chileans Tomás Barrios Vera (115°) and Alejandro Tabilo (125th), members of the team that played the Final Phase of the Davis Cup in Bologna; the brazilian Thiago Monteiro (117th), finalist of the Buenos Aires Challenger in 2021, and the Argentines Francisco Comesaña (133°), Facundo Bagnis (148°) and Mariano Navone (155th, recent winner in Santa Cruz) are other important names on the list of protagonists of the main draw, which has eight confirmed national representatives.
This year, the Buenos Aires Challenger received an upgrade in its category: 100 points will be distributed to the champion and the prize money will be US$ 130 thousand. In this way, it is the most relevant national competition at this level and one of the most important in the region.
The 2023 edition of the tournament will have a commercial and gastronomic patio designed for the whole family. Tickets for the main draw, which will be played starting Monday the 9th, can be purchased through the Ticketek website. The classification will be played on Sunday the 8th with free entry.
