There is currently a lot of discussion about the Christmas tree on Linz’s main square. In addition to wondering how beautiful (or not) it is, many passers-by are puzzled about the red Christmas bonnet that can be seen on the top of the tree. Contrary to what was expected, it was not installed later – for example with a drone – but was there before the tree was put up. Many readers also reported this back to the OÖN.

Hood marked excess length
The social media department of the city of Linz knows more. Accordingly, the 20 meter high fir tree was delivered by truck. Since the tree was “excess length,” the transport company employees marked the end with the red cap. “And because the hat suits him so well, he was allowed to keep it on,” it says on Facebook and “Christmas-Safety First!”
