Berlusconi’s heirs have ordered the sale of Villa Gernetto, an 18th-century building in Lesmo near Milan, where the ex-prime minister wanted to set up a private university, the Italian news agency ANSA reported on Saturday.

However, the family has no intention of selling the late billionaire’s main residence, Villa San Martino in Arcore near Milan, it said. The villa became internationally known because of the lavish parties that Berlusconi held there during his time as prime minister.

Art should also go

Berlusconi’s children also want to get rid of the TV tycoon’s large art collection, which also includes several erotic paintings. The collection, consisting of 25,000 pictures and statues, is stored in a 4,500 square meter warehouse not far from Berlusconi’s residence in Arcore, for which the family pays 800,000 euros a year in rent. Since the collection has a low art value, the media czar’s five children want to part with the pictures and clear out the warehouse, Italian media recently reported.

The scope of Berlusconi’s assets is vast and includes companies, villas, houses, boats, works of art and private investments. In addition to the children, Berlusconi’s brother Paolo, his partner Marta Fascina and his confidant Marcello Dell’Utri are among the heirs.
