According to newspaper reports, a total of 280 employees are affected, 80 of whom could move to Bank Austria. A Bank Austria spokesman confirmed to APA on Friday that the IT subsidiary had been wound up, but not the exact number of employees affected.

Solutions should be found for the affected employees, for example changes within the UniCredit Group should be possible, the spokesman emphasized. However, there are no layoffs. “In addition, as before, there are socially acceptable and attractive solutions in close and constructive dialogue with the works council,” writes Bank Austria in a statement.

The closure of the IT subsidiary is part of UniCredit’s efficiency measures. In July, the Italian parent Bank Austria announced that it wanted to save a further 500 million euros in costs to compensate for high inflation.

The restructuring will have no impact on customers. A large part of UniCredit Services was integrated into Bank Austria a few years ago. UCS is a subsidiary of Milan-based Unicredit Services and, among other things, takes care of the institute’s IT and communications solutions.

The Austrian Post has already advertised for the employees of UniCredit Services GmbH today. There are currently over 600 vacancies on offer, including more than 30 in the IT sector in Vienna, according to a statement from the Post.
