On Saturday afternoon, the Bad Ischl fire department received an unusual emergency call: a person had fallen into an empty pool and was injured.
“That sounded alarming. Several vehicles set off because we had absolutely no idea what would be needed,” says operations manager Jochen Eisl from the Bad Ischl Volunteer Fire Department to OÖN. “Because the Red Cross was not yet on site, their comrades took over the first aid for the seriously injured woman without hesitation.” Rescue arrived five minutes later. “These minutes can often be life-saving,” says Eisl.

Initial information about the accident was as follows: The woman lost her balance while cleaning with a kercher on a stone wall and first fell onto the tiled terrace floor and then into the approximately 1.5 meter deep, concrete pool. She was seriously injured in the extremities, said Eisl.
“Colleagues were immediately ready for action”
“Incidents like this show once again how important well-trained helpers are in the volunteer fire department,” says Eisl. And in Bad Ischl they are more than well equipped with trained paramedics. It is also not a given that the colleagues were ready to work so quickly on a Saturday afternoon.
The fire department with 7 vehicles, the Red Cross and the police were on duty. The injured person was taken to the Bad Ischl hospital.
