When the fire brigade arrived, the roof of a hay barn was already fully engulfed in flames. 10 fire departments with 107 emergency services were on duty for several hours and were able to rescue 120 dairy cows from the building and prevent the flames from spreading to the Vierkanterhof residential building.
The fire has been under control since 8 a.m., but in the morning a large contingent was busy dividing fire material by hand and extinguishing embers, it said in a release. No one was injured, but the damage to the roof structure and the hay storage was likely to be extensive.
