“I wanted the title so much. I’m especially looking forward to my new license plate, ‘MMM 16’,” said Gerhard Mittermayr with a grin. “MMM 16” stands for “Champion Maker Mittermayr 16”. The ATSV St. Martin/Traun coach always has the current number of his championship titles immortalized on his license plate.
With yesterday’s 3:1 win against Donau Linz’s 1b team, Mittermayr’s team secured promotion in the 2nd class middle – it was the 16th title in total in the 71-year-old’s coaching career. It is not yet certain whether Mittermayr will also be part of the promotion. He has no shortage of offers – especially teams that want to become champions pique his interest: “I can imagine taking over another club that wants to be promoted.”
