In the boys’ toilets at Eberstalzell elementary school, a student discovered a wildlife camera aimed at the hallway. It was hung up by the school caretaker, who wanted to use it to find out who had been smearing excrement on the walls, as Mayor Günther Josef See (VP) described in an interview with OÖN. “He had a blackout and he is very sorry.”

According to the education department, cameras are prohibited indoors, and permission from the school’s owner is required for outdoor use. The one in Eberstalzell was immediately removed. The incident was reported by the director of the education department and the municipality. “We reacted quickly and handed the camera over to the police,” says See. The mayor received a message from the police at noon today: “There is no suspicion of a crime and no criminal proceedings will be initiated.”

This means the matter is settled for the mayor, but it remains unclear who was responsible for the graffiti in the toilet.
