The 39-year-old, who most recently lived in Wels, defrauded several people on the internet platform willhaben.at, says prosecutor Markus Kitz of the Klagenfurt public prosecutor’s office. He offered and sold goods, the victims paid in advance but never received the products. The damage amounts to around 5,000 euros.
The man had already been convicted nine times for property crimes. When he was released from prison after serving an unconditional sentence, he immediately committed fraud again and went into hiding. The Klagenfurt public prosecutor’s office therefore issued a wanted notice for him in January. Yesterday at around 11.40 a.m. the man was arrested in Grieskirchen by officers from the Upper Austria State Office of Criminal Investigation. He had been wanted in Upper Austria since May, the police said.
