On Tuesday evening, a 49-year-old German citizen from the Schärding district was driving his partner’s car, who was in the passenger seat, from Germany towards Moosdorf.
When the two tried to turn into a snack bar in Braunau at around 8:20 p.m., they collided with a motorcyclist. The 28-year-old Syrian fell from his motorcycle and was thrown against a concrete base. He died at the scene of the accident despite attempts at resuscitation.
The 49-year-old and his 44-year-old passenger were injured and taken to Braunau am Inn Hospital. A drug test on the car driver came back positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine. During the investigation it also emerged that the 49-year-old’s driving license had been revoked years ago due to drug abuse.
