The 64-year-old called the police station in Traun shortly after midnight on Thursday night. The Turkish national football team had just beaten the Czech Republic 2:1 at the European Championships. The caller complained about the noise at the Traun intersection, where Turkish football fans were celebrating their team’s success. Since the police were “unable to solve the problem,” according to him, the 64-year-old announced that he would shoot the noisy fans with a pump gun. He repeated the threat several times and then hung up without revealing his identity.
Several weapons seized
The police then drove to the Traun intersection, cleared the parking lots where there were many people and cordoned them off. Meanwhile, colleagues determined the address of the caller. The 64-year-old was found there and arrested, which the man accepted without resistance. In the apartment, the police found several long guns, pistols, CO2 pistols and some knives that had been rendered unusable. These were confiscated. The investigation is ongoing.
