33 degrees: Heat and risk of thunderstorms in the coming week

Local summer thunderstorms are forecast

According to the current forecast, temperatures will rise to up to 33 degrees by the middle of next week. However, the risk of thunderstorms is also increasing and it will be wet across the country, especially on Sunday, as Geosphere Austria announced on Thursday.

At the Friday The sun is shining all over Austria. During the course of the day, however, a few thick clouds may temporarily move in from the northwest. These will bring local light rain showers by the evening, especially on the northern edge of the Alps. The wind will be light to moderate. Winds from the west to northwest can be expected, particularly in the Danube region and to the north. Early temperatures will be between eleven and 18 degrees, with maximum temperatures during the day between 22 and 29 degrees.

The weather will start the weekend with rising air pressure. By the evening, Saturday sunny and dry in many parts of the country. In the afternoon, however, according to Geosphere, thicker cumulus clouds will form, especially in the west and north, causing rain showers and thunderstorms from Vorarlberg to the Innviertel. The wind from the south will be moderate to brisk on the northern edge of the Alps and in the lowlands of the east and on the eastern edge of the Alps. In the morning, temperatures will rise to twelve to 21 degrees, and in the afternoon to 24 to 33 degrees. It will be warmest in the eastern parts of the country.

The week ends with a disturbance zone that lies across Austria. As a result, a lot of clouds are to be expected in the west and north, and rain from the morning hours onwards. It will only temporarily clear up a little during the day. Further east and south, sunny weather will prevail for a longer period. Here, the risk of showers and thunderstorms increases in the afternoon, starting in the mountains. In the flatlands of the east, thunderstorms are to be expected by the evening at the latest, while it will remain rather dry in the southeast. The wind is usually only light in the lowlands and turns from west to southeast to south. In the mountains, however, there will be some brisk southerly winds. In the morning, temperatures of 13 to 21 degrees are to be expected, with maximum daily temperatures of 20 to 32 degrees from west to southeast.

Local showers at the start of the week

The new week begins along the northern side of the Alps and in the north with residual clouds and local showers. During the day, however, the weather will be mostly quite sunny again. Only in the mountains will the cumulus clouds become more powerful on Monday, and here the risk of showers and thunderstorms will increase again in the afternoon. The wind will be mostly light, with moderate northwest to northerly winds blowing in the east. Early temperatures are forecast to be between 13 and 20 degrees, with maximum daily temperatures of 24 to 32 degrees. It will be warmest in Burgenland.

In the humid, warm air, cumulus clouds are forming mainly over the mountains, and the risk of thunderstorms increases slightly here in the afternoon. Away from the mountains, it will remain rather dry. The wind will be light to moderate from the southeast to southwest. Temperatures of 13 to 20 degrees can be expected in the morning, and 26 to 33 degrees during the day. It will be hottest in the east.
