The Chinese city of Xi ?? an with 13 million inhabitants has been in a tough lockdown for two weeks. Now the authorities have tightened the pace again – probably also with a view to the Olympic Games in the People’s Republic, which start on February 4th.
Most recently, one member per household was allowed to buy groceries once every three days, now it has apparently been determined that people are only allowed to go outside for the corona test. Food can therefore only be ordered. But since deliveries do not always work without problems, more and more city dwellers are complaining of hunger – and that for days they have only had to eat instant noodles.
The authorities see themselves on the right track, however, as the number of new infections has recently fallen: 174 cases were reported on Saturday, 122 on Sunday. A total of 1,600 infections have been registered in Xi ?? an since December 9th.
Two KP officials fired
In connection with the Corona outbreak in Xi ?? an, two high-ranking party officials had to leave. According to the city administration, the move should ensure that efforts to “epidemic prevention and control are intensified,” as local media reported on Sunday.
A new outbreak has meanwhile been reported from the northern Chinese city of Ningbo.
