A police operation took place on Sunday in an inner courtyard in Linz. The officers were called to Makartstrasse because a man was rioting near a residential building.

When they arrived, the police found the devastated courtyard empty. A witness told the officials that a man he did not know had rioted and damaged several bicycles before he finally walked away in the direction of Hamerlingstrasse.

The officers then led a manhunt in the vicinity of the house. After a short time, the police were able to stop the alleged perpetrator. At this point the man was holding a knife. However, he dropped this after a request by the police officers.

Gun ban pronounced

During the interrogation it turned out that the alleged perpetrator is 25 years old and lives in Linz. According to the police, he showed himself to be cooperative in the further course of the official act and did not offer any resistance against the officers. During a search, a can of pepper spray was found in the 25-year-old. These and the knife the man had dropped were seized.

A gun ban was imposed on the 25-year-old. Now the Linzer is reported for property damage and disorder. It is not known why the man began to riot.
