After the premiere in 2018 and a break due to corona, Messe Wels is hosting AgroTier for the second time, which will take place from September 5 to 8. The OÖNachrichten is a media partner.
“We are concentrating on animal breeding, domestic farming, stable construction and stable technology,” says trade fair director Robert Schneider, who is expecting visitors from all over Austria and neighboring Bavaria. Tractors and agricultural technology are not the main focus of this trade fair, and will only be featured occasionally. AgroTier will take place every four years in the future. The much larger Agraria with the entire range of agricultural technology will then be back on the Wels trade fair schedule in 2026.
The animal shows of cattle, sheep, goats and others at AgroTier are not only interesting for farmers, but also for other visitors. The program includes, for example, a breeding cattle show with 90 cows of various breeds and young breeders’ competitions with a show program. There is also an exhibition on the topic of “Pig farming through the ages.” Other focal points are grassland management and digital solutions that make everyday work easier.
Large regional gourmet market
In Hall 19, the focus is on local delicacies under the motto “Regional and seasonal”. For example, the Upper Austrian State Hunting Association will be offering game specialties. A “Goaßcafé” will be open, serving sheep and goat milk products such as goat milk ice cream and delicious pastries. Upper Austrian winemakers will bring their best wines, and several breweries will also be represented. Visitors can find out about Mühlviertel hops. The program also includes cooking and grill shows. The Chamber of Agriculture will show the path from grain to bread. Seminar farmers will offer oven-fresh samples in the creative bakery. The State Association for Beekeeping will be presenting honey products, and at its stand you will also be able to try delicious dishes with honey.
