After a disjointed match with hardly any highlights, the Watten team remains unbeaten in the new season. Coach Philipp Semlic’s team celebrated a 2-1 victory in Altach at the start, while GAK lost 2-3 to runners-up Salzburg.

The last time the two clubs met in a competitive match was in the 2nd round of the cup in 2021, when WSG came out on top. This time the home team had the advantage, but offensively there was only a light breeze from both sides in the Tivoli Stadium in Innsbruck. Next week WSG will be visiting Rapid in Vienna, while GAK will host Blau-Weiß Linz.
The WSG better at the beginning
In the first few minutes, the Tyroleans dominated the game through possession. The plan was obviously to combine their way through to the GAK penalty area with good and numerous passes. The first tentative approaches to the opponent’s goal happened after about ten minutes, but the home team – like the guests – were not dangerous at first. GAK had the best chance in the first half a little later: Dennis Dressel shot wide to the right from a central position in the penalty area in the 34th minute.
