Doris and Christoph Forthuber will leave the “Bräu” in Munderfing at the beginning of next year and move to the traditional inn of Hans-Michel Piëch.

As reported, it has been empty since spring. Most recently, Salzburg restaurateur Mario Mairhofer leased it. “We heard about it and thought we’d just take a look. Because we see more opportunities in Gstaig, we decided to do it,” says Doris Forthuber. In 2018, the wine expert from Styria and Christoph Forthuber from Pischelsdorf started their own business with “Forthuber im Bräu” in the historic walls directly opposite the church in Munderfing. After just six months, the gourmet guide Gault-Millau awarded them a toque. They now have three and the restaurant couple are also in the elite JRE circle of top chefs. The Jeunes Restaurateurs association stands for the cooperation of the best young chefs in Europe, which includes around 350 creative restaurateurs from 15 countries.
