On the 70th anniversary of the Marian Procession, the traditional fireworks display literally fell through. After an accident involving a motorboat, the display had to be cancelled.

Both the rafter (57) and the motorboat driver (69) were uninjured, and a breathalyzer test on the motorboat driver was negative. It was not an everyday operation for the fire department either, as operations manager Friedrich Scheucher told ORF Carinthia.
Raft must first be recovered
The situation was initially very unclear for the emergency services, which is why the area was initially closed to boats and the Marian procession had to be interrupted for a short time. “When we arrived, some of the fireworks – rockets and boxes or batteries – were on the damaged raft, some were floating in the lake, and some were still wired. So it looked pretty wild,” says Scheucher.
