Flood situation in Upper Austria: Water levels continued to rise overnight

In the early hours of the morning, alarm level 1 was exceeded on the Danube in Mauthausen, according to the Hydrographic Service of Upper Austria. As the rain will subside during the morning and then more pleasant weather is forecast, the rivers and lakes in Upper Austria are likely to reach their highest level during the course of today. The ten-year flood mark was exceeded at several measuring points in the state.

According to the Hydrographic Service, the early warning limits have already been exceeded on the Inn in Schärding and on the Danube in Linz. In Achleiten/Donau, the early warning limit will be exceeded in the near future. The water levels on the Salzach, Inn and Danube are continuing to rise, with peak discharges expected during the course of the day.

Relaxation throughout the day

The flood peak is expected on the Traun in the early morning hours. On the Enns in Steyr, the peak was already exceeded yesterday. The small and medium-sized waters in Upper Austria will mostly ease during the course of the morning, according to experts from the Hydrographic Service.
