The Red Cross has set up emergency accommodation in the Tulln Trade Fair. Up to 1,000 people can be accommodated. Camp beds and a field kitchen are available. According to Sonja Kellner from the Red Cross, 325 people were being cared for on Tuesday morning. At the peak of the night, there were around 450. Employees from crisis intervention teams were also on site in the accommodation in Halls 6 and 10 of the Tulln Trade Fair. The facility in the district town will remain in operation as long as it is needed, said Kellner.

A dangerous incident occurred on Monday evening in Krems on the river of the same name. A wheelchair user apparently ignored a barrier and fell on the river bank, the fire department reported. The man was rescued.
After passers-by heard his cries for help, the emergency services were alerted. They brought the wheelchair user back to a safe area and handed him over to Red Cross helpers. The man was transported to Krems State Hospital.
Four fatalities
The number of fatalities in connection with the flooding in the state rose to four on Monday. The youngest victim was an as yet unknown man in Klosterneuburg (Tulln district). According to police, he was discovered floating on his stomach in the water at the Klosterneuburg lido.
A 70-year-old man died in Untergrafendorf in the municipality of Böheimkirchen (district of St. Pölten-Land) and an 80-year-old man died in Höbersdorf in the market town of Sierndorf (district of Korneuburg). The death of a firefighter on duty in Rust in the Tullnerfeld in the municipality of Michelhausen (district of Tulln) had already been announced on Sunday.
