This week, around 400 studios and galleries invite you to visit them, get an impression of their work and talk to artists and operators: The “Open Studio Days” on Friday and Saturday offer the opportunity to get behind the scenes to look at the backdrops of the art world.
As in previous years, Gabi Rhomako will be there: The woman from Wels is known for her colorful paintings, which often show animal motifs, and can point to numerous exhibitions. Her studio in an old villa (Maria-Theresia-Straße 41) is at the same time a place for her to let off steam, retreat and draw inspiration: “It’s very bright, one part is practically a winter garden. I can just leave everything there – I’ve been painting at home for a long time and always have to put everything together in the evening, but you often don’t have time for that at work.”
When she expects visitors – like on the days of the open gallery – she tries to create some order, says the painter: “But I want people to see what it looks like with me.” She always enjoys taking part in the event, which is organized by the state: “People come to me who would otherwise never have the idea. Artist colleagues also stop by and exciting conversations develop.”
Gallspacher family of artists
Art lovers can marvel at works by father and daughter in Gallspach: the sculptor Erwin Burgstaller invites visitors to his studio (Fadingerstrasse 4), and his daughter Petra opens her goldsmith’s workshop (Linzer Strasse 28) to visitors.
