MODO celebrated the BCRA measure that extends the interoperability of payments with QR

From MODO they consider that the provision that obliges businesses to allow customers to make card payments with any digital wallet promotes competition.

MODO celebrated the extension of the interoperability of payments with QR that the BCRA ordered.

After the new arrangement of central bank (BCRA) that as of September 1, businesses display a single QR code to charge with credit cards and accept that customers can make payments with any digital wallet, MODE celebrated the measure since “promote competition, innovation and freedom of choice”.

“We celebrate that the Central Bank has announced new measures that enhance payments with QR, promote competition, innovation and freedom of choice”, highlights the statement from the virtual wallet of the Banks.

According to the BCRA provision, it was established that the businesses that offer the service cannot “discriminate in the commissions and accreditation terms of the funds to the business according to the brand of wallet that ordered the payment” and pointed out that the regulation aims to improve the experience for both users and businesses.

“Implementing interoperability of QR cards with cards will benefit consumer and merchant users alike. Consumers will be able to choose which wallet to pay with and businesses with which QR to charge. Now is the time for the entire ecosystem to work in line with the regulations so that interoperability is complete,” the MODO statement concluded.

The provision of the BCRA responded to the controversy that arose with the banks last April when the Association of Banks of Argentina (adeba) asked the Central Bank (BCRA) the interoperability of QR codes to pay with any payment method through a code, and not necessarily through money in the account.
