The city of Buenos Aires approved the creation of its own labor jurisdiction

The project had a total of 31 affirmative votes, 25 negative, and 2 abstentions.

This new instance will make it possible to put an end to the trials that are currently being processed in the national justice system with the consequent delays and complexities in their resolution, which affect both the rights of workers and employers.

In the case of workers, it happens that the requested credits become liquid over time, while companies are harmed by facing sentences that include interest, readjustments and updates of amounts.

“Our main objective is to have our own, modern and agile labor law, which favors job creation,” stated the Head of Government of Buenos Aires, Jorge Macri.

“With the creation of this own labor jurisdiction, judicial processes will be streamlined by 50%, local labor trials will have a specialized approach that will allow conflicts between employers and employees to be addressed efficiently and equitably by having a regulatory framework.” and specialized procedural,” added the Buenos Aires president.

The 1994 constitutional reform gave the City a new constitutional status, with its own powers of legislation and jurisdiction, but not all transfer agreements were finalized.

In this sense, the Minister of Justice Gabino Tapia declared: “The implementation of the labor jurisdiction is a great step towards the consolidation of the autonomy of the City, which is a pending debt that we have with all the people of Buenos Aires.”

Among the new features of the project are procedural issues linked to annulments, notifications, precautionary measures, procedural representation, costs, conciliation, exceptions, preliminary hearing and evidence, witnesses, experts, arguments, execution of sentence; inter alia.
