Every first Saturday in July the Cooperativism Daya date that invites us to reflect on the significance of the cooperative movement in the social, economic, educational and cultural spheres. In our case, this celebration has a special meaning, since we are not only among the 300 largest cooperatives and mutuals in the world, but we were also born in Sunchales, the National Capital of Cooperativism.

Cooperatives are companies that carry out activities with the aim of providing social and economic benefits to their members; that is, to the people and not to the monetary capital that they contribute for their development. All of this within an area of equity, respect and observance of the democratic norms that regulate their development. According to the latest records of the National Institute of Associativism and Social Economy (INAES), there are currently more than 20,000 companies of this type in Argentina, thus achieving a significant participation in the country’s economy and being essential for programs of job creation and social inclusion.

To become successful companies, cooperatives must focus their efforts on ensuring that their business base is sustainable and sustainable over time, as well as unleashing their potential to become the driving force behind initiatives that generate added value in society and make a significant contribution to the community in which they are located.

We are faced with global problems such as social and economic inequality, climate change and the violation of human rights; and we are convinced that addressing these situations is only possible through a participatory and supportive business model. In this sense, with our sustainability strategy, based on a long-term vision, focused on the person and founded on the ESG (environmental, social and governance) approach, we carry out actions to build a hard-working, cooperative society committed to the good of all. An example of this is our school cooperative promotion program, which encourages the creation of school cooperatives from Misiones to Tierra del Fuego in order to strengthen children’s sense of solidarity and preparation for community life.

On this day, we reaffirm our commitment to a business model that not only seeks economic success, but fundamentally strives for a positive impact on society and the environment. In Argentina, collaboration and commitment from everyone is necessary. Together, we will be able to face the challenges before us and build a more equitable and sustainable future for all.
