This time the controversy was unleashed by the projection of a map of Argentina without the Malvinas Islands that occurred last Wednesday. It happened in the seminar “Operation of the Incentive Regime for Large Investments (RIGI) and its possible application to the Mining Sector” given, coincidentally, in the “Héroes de Malvinas” room of the Casa Rosada.
Around 70 diplomats attended the seminar, most of them Argentine. The objective was to show the advantages of betting on the RIGI, one of the Government’s greatest bets to attract capital to the country. A photo taken by cell phone revealed the surprising omission from the map.
The Secretary of Strategic Affairs of the Chief of Staff, Jose Luis Vilatried to explain the fact to Infobae: “two maps were projected and one of them omitted the Malvinas Islands.” The projection lasted a few seconds and he assured that there was no bad intention.
“What happened is under my responsibility and makes me as sensitive as it does everyone. There is no policy to omit the Falkland Islands. It was a mistake and we are going to investigate what happened and then I will see what measures will be taken with those responsible,” he justified.
